Black Eagles took on another İstanbul team Başakşehir at Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
Şenol Güneş gave Mario Gomez his first start of the season and the Germany international didn't take too long to get on the scoresheet. The talented forward found the right bottom corner on 15th minute to put his side 1-0 ahead.
Gomez doubled the goal difference after the half-time break finishing in style with his right foot after a well timed pass from Gökhan Töre scoring the Eagles' 2999th goal and had numerous chances to go down in history as the player to score the 3000th.
After the 2-0 result, Beşiktaş moved into first place in the league with nine points after four games following the win. The Istanbul giants have also scored the highest number of goals in the league – 12.
The Eagles take on Gençlerbirliği in Ankara next on Monday 21 September.
